Proviso Township High Schools Welcomes Three New Principals to "Build Bridges to Success"

Forest Park, IL...After years of working to raise student achievement through restructuring and overall school improvement, Proviso Township High Schools District 209 has welcomed new principals to Proviso East High School, Proviso West High School, and Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy.

“These individuals have committed to the work of raising overall achievement in each of our schools,” said PTHS 209 Superintendent Dr. Nettie Collins-Hart. “They are adding their skills, talents, and leadership abilities to the fire of Proviso’s Rising. We welcome these educational leaders as we continue to raise the bar across our school system.”

Dr. Roudell Kirkwood will serve as principal of Proviso West High School. Mr. Tony Valente will serve as principal of Proviso East High School. Mrs. Kim Waller will serve as principal of Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy. All three principals have a long history of educational leadership, service, and dedication to student success. At the start of the school year, PTHS 209 will host a Principal Meet and Greet at each school where the new principals will outline their goals and vision for Proviso Rising.

Each principal will be charged with executing their individual school improvement plans and boosting student achievement. At June’s regularly scheduled Board of Education Meeting, they received a warm welcome from the Board of Education, fellow administrators, and PTHS staff.

“We are glad to welcome our new principals aboard,” said PTHS 209 Board President, Chris Welch. “Over the years we have implemented some great programs that help support student achievement, and we look forward to them joining our mission to raise levels of achievement. Now that the baton has been passed, we can continue the work of moving our school system forward and building true bridges to success.”

Dr. Roudell Kirkwood, Mr. Tony Valente, and Mrs. Kim Waller assumed their new posts on July 1, 2011.
