PTHS 209 Hosts Supplemental Educational Services Fair During Back to School Night: Offers Free Tutoring Programs to Help Raise Achievement

Forest Park, IL...On Thursday, September 22nd, 2011, during “Back to School Night,” Proviso East and Proviso West High Schools will host a Supplemental Educational Services (SES) Fair to offer parents information on free tutoring and educational assistance available for District 209 students.

Supplemental Educational Service providers tutor students in reading, language arts, and mathematics. Various providers will set up in each school during “Back to School Night” to give parents and students an opportunity to sign up for tutoring. Through PTHS 209’s supplemental educational services, students can receive extra help before or after school, on weekends, during intercessions, or during the summer-- at no cost to the family. On September 22nd, parents will have an opportunity to tour the fair and choose the service provider that best suits their students’ needs.

“The goals of our SES Fair are to ensure that we provide students with resources to increase their academic achievement, provide options to parents to help them ensure that their children receive a quality education, and to provide support for the district as we work toward the goals outlined in our school improvement plans,” said Dr. Cheryl Pruitt, PTHS 209 Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. “This night will showcase various tutoring options that are available to students at no charge.”

Parents and students are encouraged to talk with SES representatives during the fair and choose the educational support service that is right for them. The SES fair will be held at Proviso East and Proviso West High Schools in conjunction with “Back to School Night,” Thursday, September 22nd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
